Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair – Fritz Hansen, Late 1960s–Early 1970s
An iconic Egg lounge chair designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen in 1958. This original vintage example dates from the late 1960s to early 1970s and has been beautifully reupholstered in rich cognac-coloured leather.
One of the most celebrated pieces of Danish Modern design, the Egg is distinguished by its sculptural, organic silhouette. The high backrest and gently curved sides create an inviting, sheltered seating experience, while the warm cognac leather beautifully complements the chair's flowing lines. A four-star aluminium swivel base completes its timeless appearance.
The Egg was originally designed in 1958 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, where Arne Jacobsen was responsible for both the architecture and the interior design. Its innovative moulded shell and distinctive form made it a groundbreaking piece of modern furniture, and it has since become one of the world's most recognisable design classics.
Combining the history and character of an early Fritz Hansen production with beautifully renewed leather upholstery, this vintage Egg chair is an exceptional statement piece for a sophisticated interior.
