Illum Wikkelsø Glass Coffee Table

Illum Wikkelsø Rosewood Coffee Table with Glass Top, Danish Vintage, 1960s

An iconic Danish coffee table designed by Illum Wikkelsø during the 1960s. Featuring a sculptural solid rosewood base and an elegant round glass top, this table is considered one of the finest examples of Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern design.

The transparent glass top was intentionally designed to reveal the beautifully sculpted base beneath, allowing the craftsmanship and organic construction to become the true focal point. The expressive X-shaped base demonstrates Wikkelsø's exceptional understanding of proportion, structure and natural form.

Illum Wikkelsø (1919–1999) was among Denmark's most celebrated furniture designers. Originally trained as a cabinetmaker, he became renowned for combining organic shapes with outstanding craftsmanship. His furniture was produced by several leading Danish manufacturers, including CFC Silkeborg, and remains highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

Often referred to as the Model T118, this coffee table was produced throughout the 1960s in teak and rosewood. Its heavy circular glass top was specifically designed to showcase the sculptural wooden base, making it one of Wikkelsø's most recognizable table designs.

A timeless Scandinavian design icon that works beautifully in both contemporary and mid-century interiors.
