Kai Kristiansen Troja Armchair for IKEA, 1959
A rare Troja armchair designed by Kai Kristiansen for IKEA in 1959 and produced in Denmark. Early examples were manufactured by Magnus Olesen. Originally named Troy, the chair was introduced by IKEA under the name Troja.
The Troja is one of Kai Kristiansen's most elegant early designs, distinguished by its sculptural wraparound backrest and gracefully integrated armrests. The refined proportions and organic lines perfectly embody the principles of Danish mid-century modern furniture.
This example features a solid teak frame paired with its beautifully aged original leather seat, giving the chair exceptional character and authenticity.
