Royal Copenhagen Ceramic Vase

Grethe Helland Hansen Ceramic Vase – Royal Copenhagen, Denmark, 1960s–1970s

A beautiful Danish vintage ceramic vase featuring a decorative pattern by Grethe Helland Hansen and a sculptural form by Nils Thorsson, produced by Royal Copenhagen during the 1960s–1970s.

The vase features a striking stylised berry and leaf motif in deep blue, dark brown and almost black tones against a soft off-white background. The expressive decoration, subtle variations in the glaze and beautifully balanced proportions give the piece its distinctive character.

Grethe Helland Hansen was among the designers contributing to Royal Copenhagen's modern ceramic collections. Her bold, nature-inspired graphic decoration is beautifully complemented by Nils Thorsson's clean and architectural approach to form.

An elegant example of Danish Mid-Century Modern ceramics, this vase makes a beautiful decorative statement on a sideboard, shelf or table. A timeless combination of artistic expression and Scandinavian design.
